Calogero "Carlo" Vaccaro, 82, born October 22, 1934 to Luigi Vaccaro and Carmela Curmona Vaccaro in Canicatti, Italy, passed away August 4, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Carlo immigrated to the United States in 1955 and worked in the New York City Garment District, where he met Maria, his wife of 57 years.
A tailor by trade his entire life, Carlo most recently could be found at Levy Wolf or Jos A. Bank in Jacksonville, Florida, practicing his beloved craft in the men's clothing department. As a devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church he was a parishioner for over 31 years.
Carlo was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Antonio “Tony” Vaccaro; sister, Antoinette Fiorenza; brother-in-laws, Silvio Frustaci, Ercolino Fiorenza; sister-in-law, Cora Barbieri; nieces,Lina Amengual, Lina Vaccaro, Toni Vaccaro and Francine Vaccaro.
Carlo is survived by his wife, Maria Barbieri Vaccaro; children, Carmela Vaccaro Grimm (Donald), Lou Vaccaro (Maryann), Carlo Vaccaro (Debra); grandchildren, Dana Kane (Justin), Dylan Vaccaro (Denver), Brandon Vaccaro, Lauren Vaccaro, Michael Vaccaro, Annemarie Vaccaro, Brendon Grimm (Erika), Jessica Grimm; brother, Armando Vaccaro (Bess) ; sister, Graziella “Grace” Frustaci; brother-in-law, Dino Barbieri; sister-in-law Joyce Vaccaro, nieces and nephews, Patricia Barbieri, Lina Crampton, David Barbieri, Maria Luisa Ruvio, Gina Previte, Silvia Cocozza, Gino DeSantis, Maria Weiner, Eric Vaccaro and Louis “Buddy” Vaccaro.
The Vaccaro Family will receive friends for a Visitation Gathering 5-7PM, Monday, August 7, 2017 in the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 (904) 724-6384. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10AM, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Ft. Caroline Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32225 (904) 641-7244 with Rev. Fr. Amar Nagothu, MSFS officiating.
Interment will immediately follow in procession to Arlington Park Cemetery, 6921 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 for a Graveside Blessing.
