Obituary for Louis Hartford Boyd

Louis  Hartford  Boyd
Louis Hartford Boyd, 89, passed away on June 27th, in Jacksonville after a brief illness. He was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida having moved here from Charleston, South Carolina in 1961.
He began his career in 1943 at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as an apprentice electrician and retired after 40 years of service with the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion and Repair, USN, Mayport, Florida. He served his country during WWII in the Navy.
Louis was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church serving on numerous committees. He was also a member of the BYKOTA Sunday School class. He received his 50-year Masonic pin from Etiwan Lodge No. 95 AFM – Mount Pleasant, South Carolina in November 2003. He is a member of the York Rite of Freemasonry, Scottish Rite, Sons of the American Revolution – Jacksonville Chapter, Navy League Mayport Council, and a life member of Morocco Shriners. He was an avid golfer and loved the game.
Louis was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Craver Boyd and longtime companions, Nora Sills and Jackie Cason.
Survivors include his three sons; Louis Hartford “Rusty” Boyd, Jr. (Theresa), Richard Byron Boyd (Susan) and John Wyatt Boyd (Lyn), five grandchildren; Lucas Everette Boyd (Crystal), Elliot Tyler McKinnon Boyd (Jessica), Richard “Mack” McKinnon Boyd, John Wyatt Boyd, Jr., Elliot Craver Boyd, two great grandchildren; Aria Loren Boyd and Everette Robert Boyd, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at Arlington Park Funeral Home on 6920 Lone Star Road on Thursday, June 29th, from 5-7pm. Services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Road on Friday June 30th, at 12 pm with Reverends Michael Shockley and James Jennings officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church Foundation, 8264 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211.
