Obituary for Billy Sutton

Billy Sutton, 99, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. Billy was born November 14, 1917 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Billy was a devout Christian and attended Arlington Baptist Church and Harvest Baptist Church. He always showed unconditional love towards his family. Billy was considered a role model and Hero by his family and friends always putting others first before himself.

Billy served in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945 during WWII. He was a Sargent and gunner on the bombing missions over Germany.

Billy was employed by John H Swisher & Son, Inc. for 50 plus years retiring as Vice President at the age of 73.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Jane Sutton, and his son James Henry Sutton.

Billy is survived by his children, Patty Powell (Jimmy), Peggy Jennings and Larry Sutton. Proud Grandfather of Linda Williams (Rocky), Donna Batton (Carl), Alicia Skarbek (Brian), Kristy Shields (AJ), James Powell, Jr (Jessica), Kelli Sutton and Steven Sutton. Great Grandfather of Merissa Williams (Aaron), Broderick Williams, Mhya Pereira, Mackenzie Powell, Chase Skarbek, Sierra Shields, Makena Skarbek. Great Great Grandfather of Lucy Duff.

Family will receive friends Monday, June 26, 2017 from 12:30 to 2:00 at Arlington Baptist Church.

A Celebration of life begins at 2:00 on Monday, June 26, 2017 also at Arlington Baptist Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
