Jeanette “Jett” Folds, age 89, daughter of Joseph and Mae Baker McKibben, who was born November 9, 1927 in Griffin, Georgia, passed away February 21, 2017 at Baptist Hospital South in Jacksonville, Florida.
Jett took great pride in her work as a model in Atlanta as well as her work in the Human Resources Department of Blue Cross Blue Shield. Jett was passionate about flying planes, yoga, and gardening. After overcoming polio as a young child, she learned to walk again and was later honored to serve as drum majorette of the Griffin High School Band. She played piano beautifully and was always the consummate hostess. Above all, Jett was a lively and beautiful redhead who was deeply devoted to her family.
Jeanette was preceded in death by John D. Folds, Jr., her loving husband of 63 years. Also preceding Jett in death were her parents, Joseph and Mae McKibben; sisters Billie Dixon and Virginia Yarborough; brothers Joseph McKibben and Raymond McKibben; and great granddaughter Jordan Thomas.
Jett is survived by her daughter, Paula Massengill (Robert); grandchildren Michelle Pruett (Jason) and Dustin Thomas; great grandchildren Alexander and Madeleine Grabarczyk; beloved nephews and nieces, Barbra and Jerry McKibben; Kristian Titus (Mark); Todd McKibben; and Jennifer McKibben as well as countless friends and other beloved family.
A memorial service to celebrate Jett’s life will take place at 2:30 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Augustine Landing Retirement Community Chapel (third floor), 10141 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
