Mildred Edna Smith Holland, was born, August 15,1924 in Columbia, South Carolina and passed away February 10, 2017 at age 92,in St. Augustine Florida.
Mildred is survived by her two sons, Wayne Holland and Robert Holland, a daughter-in-law, Katherine Lebold, and four grandchildren, Heather Holland, Josh Holland, Dani Bohn and Kristi Timm.
Mildred married Warren Johnson Holland June 6 ,1948 and the two moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1960. Mildred worked for Amtrak as a reservationist and also worked at a Telephone company as an operator. She always had a passion for talking to people, and was able to use that skill to make a living. They eventually made their way to St. Augustine so that they could enjoy the ocean, one of Mildred’s favorite things to do.
Mildred and Warren were married for 55 beautiful years, until Warren’s passing in 2004. Mildred was known for many things especially her love for family and friends. The thirteen years following his passing, Mildred maintained her social life, meeting new people every summer, as well as frequent visits from her family. Mildred enjoyed the simplistic way of life from sitting and watching her favorite golfer, Tiger Woods to watching the Jaguars play every Sunday. Mildred also enjoyed being outside when the sun was shining, whether it was in the pool or at the beach.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.
A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2017 in Arlington Park Cemetery, 6921 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, Florida 32211. A reception to follow, 4850 A1A South, St. Augustine, Florida 32084.
