Obituary for Betty Jane Griffin

Betty Jane Griffin
Betty Jane Budd Griffin, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Saturday, September 10, 2016. She died peacefully at her home in Jacksonville, Florida. Betty was born on April 14, 1925 in Lansing, Michigan to Sidney and Julia (Gebo) Budd. Betty had one brother Richard Budd. Betty’s parents and her brother preceded her in death.

Betty is survived by her husband William E. Griffin and her three children: Annette (Martin) Manley, Amy (Stephen) Monson, William S. (Candice) Griffin; 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Betty Jane Budd married William (Bill) E. Griffin on August 18, 1946 in Holt, Michigan. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.

Because of husband Bill’s employment with Oldsmobile, the family often was transferred to new locations. Betty lived her life in Michigan (Lansing & Holt), Waycross, Georgia, and Florida (Clearwater, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville). Wherever they lived they made life-long friends, connected with the local church and served their community. Betty was a registered nurse graduating during WWII days and worked at Saint Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Later she devoted her life to being a full time wife, mother and volunteer.

Making memories was a family priority. So whether going on a family road trip or spending time at one of the Griff-Inns (Fernandina Beach House,
Salt Springs Lake Place or Wisconsin Summer Home) family, food and fun were the traditions.

Betty was a faithful servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. Her servant heart was evident as she led, organized and participated in numerous Christian events such as Bible studies, ladies ministry, Vacation Bible School, kitchen supervisor, missions outreach, thrift store founder, and many other areas of service to her church and community. Betty was also always involved in the many activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be truly missed by family and friends. She leaves a legacy of love.
